About the painting
The Runaways is a title full of escape. Vettriano's paintings are crowded with people caught between one life and another: arriving at a hotel, leaving a party, or slipping away together from somewhere they should be. The title gives this image that same sense of a story already under way, and of two people who have chosen each other over everything else.
Its compact size makes it one of the easier Vettriano prints to place, whether as a single piece on a narrow wall or as part of a group with other small-format editions. It is a good choice for a hallway, a landing or a study.

About this edition
This is a signed limited edition of 175 prints plus 20 Artist's Proofs. Each print is signed and numbered by Jack Vettriano and comes with a certificate of authenticity. It is printed on 300gsm museum etching paper, with an image size of 21 x 25.5 cm and a mount size of 42 x 48.5 cm. Smaller signed editions like this are often where collectors begin, and they remain a practical way to add another Vettriano image to a growing collection without taking up a large wall.

Framing, display and care
This edition is printed on heavyweight museum etching paper, a soft, textured cotton stock chosen because it holds pigment ink with depth and stays stable for generations when it is looked after. If you are framing it yourself, ask your framer for an acid-free mount and backing board and for UV-filtering glazing; conservation or museum glass is worth the extra cost on a signed print. Hang it away from direct sunlight, and avoid bathrooms, kitchens and the wall above a radiator, where heat and damp can cockle the paper over time. When the print arrives, handle it by the edges with clean, dry hands and keep it flat in its packaging until it goes to the framer.

About Jack Vettriano
Jack Vettriano was born in St Andrews in 1951 and grew up in Methil, Fife. He left school at sixteen and taught himself to paint, studying the works in Kirkcaldy's gallery after being given a set of watercolours for his twenty-first birthday. When he sent two paintings to the Royal Scottish Academy's annual exhibition in 1988, both sold on the first day, and his career as a professional painter began.
