About the painting
The Very Thought of You takes its title from the 1934 Ray Noble song, later recorded by Nat King Cole and many others. It is a song about being consumed by thoughts of someone, and Vettriano's painting carries the same dreamy, romantic mood. His love of popular standards runs through his titles, adding a soundtrack to the scenes he painted.
Published in 2015, it is one of his later editions. Its gentle romance makes it a lovely gift and a natural fit for a bedroom or sitting room.

Framing, display and care
This edition is printed on heavyweight museum etching paper, a soft, textured cotton stock chosen because it holds pigment ink with depth and stays stable for generations when it is looked after. If you are framing it yourself, ask your framer for an acid-free mount and backing board and for UV-filtering glazing; conservation or museum glass is worth the extra cost on a signed print. Hang it away from direct sunlight, and avoid bathrooms, kitchens and the wall above a radiator, where heat and damp can cockle the paper over time. When the print arrives, handle it by the edges with clean, dry hands and keep it flat in its packaging until it goes to the framer.
