About the painting
Lucky Seven has the gambler's title Vettriano liked to use, with its suggestion of chance, risk and the evening that might turn either way. Games, wagers and risk recur across his work, from card tables to dance halls, and his figures often seem to be playing for stakes that are emotional rather than financial. The number seven, traditionally the lucky one, gives the title a hopeful ring that his paintings rarely let us take entirely at face value.
As a smaller image, Lucky Seven is well suited to a study, a dressing room or a group hang alongside other Vettriano prints. It is also one of the more accessible signed editions in our collection, making it a sensible choice for someone starting out, or a thoughtful gift for a Vettriano enthusiast.

About this edition
This is a signed limited edition of 100 prints plus 10 Artist's Proofs, each signed and numbered by Jack Vettriano and supplied with a certificate of authenticity. It is printed on 300gsm museum etching paper, with an image size of 25 x 21 cm and a mount size of 47.5 x 42 cm. An edition of just 100 is small by the standards of Vettriano's published prints, and now that no new signed editions can be produced, the supply of this one is fixed.

Framing, display and care
This edition is printed on heavyweight museum etching paper, a soft, textured cotton stock chosen because it holds pigment ink with depth and stays stable for generations when it is looked after. If you are framing it yourself, ask your framer for an acid-free mount and backing board and for UV-filtering glazing; conservation or museum glass is worth the extra cost on a signed print. Hang it away from direct sunlight, and avoid bathrooms, kitchens and the wall above a radiator, where heat and damp can cockle the paper over time. When the print arrives, handle it by the edges with clean, dry hands and keep it flat in its packaging until it goes to the framer.

About Jack Vettriano
Jack Vettriano was born in St Andrews in 1951 and grew up in Methil, Fife. He left school at sixteen and taught himself to paint, studying the works in Kirkcaldy's gallery after being given a set of watercolours for his twenty-first birthday. When he sent two paintings to the Royal Scottish Academy's annual exhibition in 1988, both sold on the first day, and his career as a professional painter began.
