About the painting
Night in the City shows a couple in a room high above a city at night, the lights of the streets spread out beyond the window. It is one of Vettriano's most atmospheric urban paintings, combining the intimacy of a private room with the scale and glamour of the city outside. The view becomes part of the story: a reminder of the world the couple have shut out, or the life they have stepped away from for the evening.
The painting has the polished, cinematic quality of his best night scenes, and its moody palette makes it a striking presence in a living room, bedroom or study.

About this edition

The image size is 51 x 40.5 cm, a generous scale that suits the panoramic feel of the composition. Editions published twenty years ago are now well established in the secondary market, and examples in good condition are increasingly sought after.

Before you buy
If this is your first Vettriano print, it's worth a quick read first: the buying guide, the certificate of authenticity guide, and the investment guide between them cover what to check and what to expect.
Framing, display and care
As a fine art giclée, this print is made with archival pigment inks on acid-free fine art paper, which is what allows a limited edition like this to keep its colour for decades. To protect that, frame it with an acid-free mount and UV-filtering glass, and hang it out of direct sunlight. Steady conditions matter more than anything else: a dry interior wall is ideal, while bathrooms, kitchens and the space above a radiator are best avoided. If you are not framing straight away, store the print flat, in its protective packaging, somewhere cool and dry, and only handle it by the edges. A good framer will be able to advise on moulding and mount colour to suit the image and the room.
