About the painting

Night Calls belongs to the after-dark side of Vettriano's work, where the telephone, the late hour and the closed door set the scene for something private. The title alone suggests a call that should not be made, or an arrangement made under cover of night. These interiors are where his noir influences show most clearly: low light, a strong sense of mood, and a story told through glances and gestures rather than spelled out.

It is a picture for collectors who prefer the darker, more cinematic strand of his work to the sunlit beaches. If you are looking for something rarer, we also hold an Artist's Proof of the same image.

About this edition

This is a signed limited edition of just 100 prints plus 10 Artist's Proofs, each signed and numbered by Jack Vettriano and supplied with a certificate of authenticity. It is printed on 300gsm museum etching paper, with an image size of 39 x 31.5 cm, a mount size of 62 x 53.5 cm and a frame size of 73 x 64.5 cm. An edition of 100 is small by the standards of Vettriano's published prints, and now that no new signed editions can be made, the supply is fixed.

Before you buy

Framing, display and care

This edition is printed on heavyweight museum etching paper, a soft, textured cotton stock chosen because it holds pigment ink with depth and stays stable for generations when it is looked after. If you are framing it yourself, ask your framer for an acid-free mount and backing board and for UV-filtering glazing; conservation or museum glass is worth the extra cost on a signed print. Hang it away from direct sunlight, and avoid bathrooms, kitchens and the wall above a radiator, where heat and damp can cockle the paper over time. When the print arrives, handle it by the edges with clean, dry hands and keep it flat in its packaging until it goes to the framer.

Our promise

Authenticity matters more than anything when you buy a limited edition, which is why every print we supply comes with a certificate of authenticity and is sent with fully insured UK delivery. International delivery is available on enquiry. As an official stockist we can tell you exactly what you are buying, and we are glad to talk through edition details, framing or delivery before you commit.
