Heaven or Hell comes from the most sensual chapter of Vettriano's work. Its full title, Heaven or Hell: the Sweetest Choice, appears in The Red Room Collection, the folio of five of his most erotic images published as signed limited editions in 2014. The title captures the dilemma at the heart of these paintings: desire that promises bliss and risks consequences in the same moment.

Since Vettriano's death in 2025, no new signed prints can be produced, so the supply of this edition is fixed.

Framing, display and care
As a fine art giclée, this print is made with archival pigment inks on acid-free fine art paper, which is what allows a limited edition like this to keep its colour for decades. To protect that, frame it with an acid-free mount and UV-filtering glass, and hang it out of direct sunlight. Steady conditions matter more than anything else: a dry interior wall is ideal, while bathrooms, kitchens and the space above a radiator are best avoided. If you are not framing straight away, store the print flat, in its protective packaging, somewhere cool and dry, and only handle it by the edges. A good framer will be able to advise on moulding and mount colour to suit the image and the room.

About Jack Vettriano
Jack Vettriano was born in St Andrews in 1951 and grew up in Methil, Fife. He left school at sixteen and taught himself to paint, studying the works in Kirkcaldy's gallery after being given a set of watercolours for his twenty-first birthday. When he sent two paintings to the Royal Scottish Academy's annual exhibition in 1988, both sold on the first day, and his career as a professional painter began.
