About the painting

Exit Eden is one of Vettriano's more literary titles, drawing on the oldest story of temptation and loss: the expulsion from the Garden of Eden. In his hands the idea becomes modern and personal, about the moment when innocence ends or a relationship crosses a line that cannot be uncrossed. Many of his paintings deal with desire and its consequences, and this title makes that theme explicit.

At over 50 cm across, it is one of the larger images among his signed etching-paper editions, giving it real presence on a wall. It works well as a focal point in a living room or above a fireplace.

About this edition

This is a signed limited edition of 175 prints plus 20 Artist's Proofs. Each print is signed and numbered by Jack Vettriano and supplied with a certificate of authenticity. It is printed on 300gsm museum etching paper, with an image size of 51.5 x 40.5 cm and a mount size of 74.5 x 61.5 cm. Its larger format makes it a strong choice for collectors who want a statement piece without moving up to the premium board-mounted editions.

Before you buy

If this is your first Vettriano print, it's worth a quick read first: the buying guide, the certificate of authenticity guide, and the investment guide between them cover what to check and what to expect.

Framing, display and care

This edition is printed on heavyweight museum etching paper, a soft, textured cotton stock chosen because it holds pigment ink with depth and stays stable for generations when it is looked after. If you are framing it yourself, ask your framer for an acid-free mount and backing board and for UV-filtering glazing; conservation or museum glass is worth the extra cost on a signed print. Hang it away from direct sunlight, and avoid bathrooms, kitchens and the wall above a radiator, where heat and damp can cockle the paper over time. When the print arrives, handle it by the edges with clean, dry hands and keep it flat in its packaging until it goes to the framer.

Buying with confidence

Every print we sell comes with a certificate of authenticity, and every UK order is sent with fully insured delivery. International delivery is available on enquiry. We pack each print to protect it in transit, and we are always happy to answer questions before you buy, whether that is about edition numbers, framing or how a print will look in a particular room. Jack Vettriano Studio is an official stockist, so you can buy knowing exactly where your print has come from.

About Jack Vettriano
