About the painting
Black on Blonde is a title that reads almost like a colour note or a cocktail order, and that blend of style and suggestion is typical of Vettriano. Black clothing against fair hair is a contrast he used again and again, especially in his portraits of women, and the title puts that visual idea front and centre. It is a study in elegance, contrast and attitude.
Published in 2015 alongside several other editions of the same format, it is one of his later images. Its moderate size and price make it a versatile choice for a bedroom, hallway or study.

Before you buy
A few things worth knowing before you buy: our buying guide covers editions and pricing, our certificate of authenticity guide explains what paperwork to expect, and our investment guide looks at how Vettriano's market has held up.
Framing, display and care
This edition is printed on heavyweight museum etching paper, a soft, textured cotton stock chosen because it holds pigment ink with depth and stays stable for generations when it is looked after. If you are framing it yourself, ask your framer for an acid-free mount and backing board and for UV-filtering glazing; conservation or museum glass is worth the extra cost on a signed print. Hang it away from direct sunlight, and avoid bathrooms, kitchens and the wall above a radiator, where heat and damp can cockle the paper over time. When the print arrives, handle it by the edges with clean, dry hands and keep it flat in its packaging until it goes to the framer.

Authenticity matters more than anything when you buy a limited edition, which is why every print we supply comes with a certificate of authenticity and is sent with fully insured UK delivery. International delivery is available on enquiry. As an official stockist we can tell you exactly what you are buying, and we are glad to talk through edition details, framing or delivery before you commit.
