About the painting

The Look Of Love borrows its title from a much-loved 1960s love song, and it shares that song's mood of longing. Vettriano often took his titles from the music of the 1950s and 1960s, which gives his paintings their nostalgic, cinematic feel. Here the title asks us to read every glance and gesture as a sign of love, given or held back.
