About the painting
Betrayal – First Kiss shows a man and a woman sharing a first kiss in a softly lit room, wall lights glowing on either side. It is the opening chapter of a story Vettriano told across several paintings on the theme of betrayal, continued in Betrayal – No Turning Back and Contemplation of Betrayal.
Taken on its own it is simply one of his most romantic images; seen alongside the others it becomes the first moment of something more complicated.
About this edition
The edition is limited to 100 prints plus 10 Artist's Proofs on 300gsm museum etching paper, each signed by Jack Vettriano at bottom right and numbered at bottom left, supplied mounted with a certificate of authenticity. The image measures 39 x 32.2 cm.
