About the painting
In Contemplation of Betrayal a man in a dark suit leans in to kiss a woman's cheek while she looks away, glass in hand, by a window at dusk. Her expression is the whole story: the moment of hesitation before a decision that cannot be undone.
It is one of a group of Vettriano paintings on betrayal, alongside Betrayal – First Kiss and Betrayal – No Turning Back. Of the three, it is the quietest and perhaps the most telling, and the three hang beautifully together.
About this edition
The edition is limited to 100 prints plus 10 Artist's Proofs, each signed by Jack Vettriano at bottom right and numbered at bottom left, supplied mounted with a certificate of authenticity.
